Neal challenged a Christian caller today to explain why, if homosexuality is such a sin, Jesus never spoke against it.
That logic fails on two points:
- Jesus is God. (That’s why we’re Christians and not Jews.) See God’s pronouncements on homosexuality in the Old Testament.
- Even if you don’t believe that Jesus is God (and Neal has made it clear over the years that he doesn’t), see Matthew 19:4-6: He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”
So Jesus did, in fact, make it clear that the plan for marriage from the very beginning involved male and female, one each. Take that in conjunction with Jesus’ teachings about adultery and fornication, and it’s pretty clear: Homosexuality was not part of the plan.
