Creating a God That Lives Up to Our Standards

Apparently a bloc within one of America’s so-called “mainline” Christian denominations feels that God isn’t inclusive enough:

Delegates of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) are to tackle whether to adopt gender-inclusive language for worship of the divine Trinity along with the traditional “Father, Son and Holy Spirit.”

A study panel said the classical language for the Trinity shouldn’t be diminished, but advocated “fresh ways to speak of the mystery of the triune God” to “expand the church’s vocabulary of praise and wonder.”

Among the feminist-inspired options on the table:

  • “Mother, Child and Womb”
  • “Lover, Beloved, Love”
  • “Creator, Savior, Sanctifier”
  • “Rock, Redeemer, Friend”
  • “King of Glory, Prince of Peace, Spirit of Love”

“Lover, beloved, love”? How…squishy.

This emasculated, metrosexual Christ isn’t in the Bible. Sadly, that’s precisely the point.

One response to “Creating a God That Lives Up to Our Standards

  1. By a vote of 56% to 42% with 2% abstaining, the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church USA has officially adopted ” “Mother, Child and Womb”” as examples of names that can be substituted for Father, Son, and Holy Spirit!!!!!
