Do we really need to change the official name of MU’s flagship campus? I mean, does anyone outside Columbia actually call Mizzou the “University of Missouri-Columbia”? What will dropping “dash Columbia” really do?
It seems to me that this is nothing more than an ego-driven response to Southwest Missouri State dropping its directional prefix — as if people outside Missouri will assume from the names that MSU is bigger than UM-C.
